A group dubbed the Society for Textbook Revise (STR), an independent body that is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research and has been the driving force behind the move. STR has won its first victory by eliminating examples of the evolution of the horse and an avian ancestor, called the Archeopteryx from textbooks. Its sights are now set on removing snippets of Darwin's infamous finch research and on human evolution too.

STR claims to have the backing of 4,000 families and individual members. Its goal, it says is to cleanse the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" which paints an unflattering image for students. It also seeks to counter the influence of American Creationists in the United States. A survey of trainees in biology revealed that a majority of them didn't believe in evolution. The reasons aren't certain, but could be related to religion or the absence of creation scientists in the US.

The KACR has achieved many things in the past through lectures and seminar events. It publishes a bimonthly magazine, Creation, and has published books. One of these was a textbook on natural sciences with a cosmological perspective. This led to an interest in the college community. On August 6th and 7th of 1993, KACR hosted a second International Symposium on Creation Research. It was held in conjunction with the opening of the World Expo in Daejeon.
